This is my son.

And that is his sister's Pink nail polish.

Ain't Nuttin' but a Chicken Wang...

Seriously. Who doesn't love chicken wings? Especially from Native New Yorker?
This kid can grub.

Wanted: Love them Layers

We toured a model home a few weeks back and ran smack into this beauty...

I like love it a lot.  I want it a lot. I think it makes a perfect addition to a dining room or even a sitting room. Either way, saving this picture for when the right time comes!

At least there was chocolate involved...

It seems every time we make a big fuss over an impending Cardinals football game, we lose.
We spent the day doing chores...making three kinds of buffalo wings... and making a chocolate cake.
Even after all of our effort, the Cards just couldn't pull off a win; we are now out of the playoffs.

Oh well... there's always next year!

P.S. The inside of the cake??? -- strawberry, with some added red food coloring!

31 Flavors... Yummy

Today, in honor of report card day and Nic not having any accidents in daycare (of the bathroom variety), we ended up at Baskin Robbins.

How good does that look?! I'd love to say that I wouldn't know, but in honor of my even waking up on this Monday, I had a double scoop of Mint Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Fudge. Yummy!

P.S. While not pictured, Alex got in on the fun, too!  We even brought home an ice cream for Marcos, for when he gets home later tonight.

I wish every day was report card day!

Ortho

This is a new word for me... Ortho.  I am thinking it translates to spend lots of moo-la. But that's just a guess [updated to confirm, yes! it does translate to mucho moo-la).

Alex and Isa had ortho appointments last Tuesday-- their first. Here is a panoramic view of Alex's mouth (courtesy of our regular dentist):

Now... the picture doesn't do much justice to my big man's front teeth; they are overlapping (he's still super cute, though!).  I don't have an X-Ray for Isabel; perhaps our dentist didn't think Isabel was in need?!  We took her in, just to double check. It is a free consultation, after all.

The place we choose has a super cute name and website; Bullmoose Orthodontics. This is what we saw when we entered the joint:

How cute is it that they put the kids' names on the board? I loved it. Alex was embarrassed.
They are such a cute and knowledgeable office. I am very pleased thus far.

So there's the scoop.  Alex needs one of these:

It's going to go on the top of his mouth; it's an extender. The top half of his mouth is shaped weird different than the bottom of his mouth. This little guy will do the trick. Alex will be getting his braces in about 3 months.

Isabel has a 100% over-bite (I didn't even know! - but I see it now). She will be getting this on Wednesday:

This will be placed on the bottom of  her mouth... it's to try and keep everything straight and from moving all over the place, until she gets her braces 12 months from now.

So...we will have a few metal-mouths in our family here shortly. I feel for the pain/discomfort they will be in, but I am glad we are able to take care of their lovely smiles- and to make them even lovelier.  It will all be worth it in the end.

Family Bike Ride

We spent the 2nd day of the new year on our bikes. The weather was warm... the sun was shining... and I was looking mighty fine on my new beach cruiser! ;) Ok, maybe this time NEXT year I will be looking mighty fine -- but for now, it was about getting out, catching some rays and spending time with the people I love. They couldn't make it - so I made do with the kids below. ;)

We all had a blast!

First Mini-Trip of the Year

We spent the first day of the new year in the snow... kind of. We drove about 100 miles north-east of Phoenix and ended up near a place called Christopher Creek. We really enjoy this place during the summer, so we thought we'd check it out during the winter.  When we got out to play, it was SUNNY! - and about 50 degrees. Not bad weather at all. The kids had fun... poor Nic's fingers were cold from all of the snowballs he made and threw at us.

We ended the day with a packed picnic lunch, and made it back down to the valley just in time to witness beautiful sunsets and twilight. We live in such a beautiful state. Lucky us.
